Fairy Story

Once upon a time in a land far away there was a magical fairy that could make anyone's wishes come true. Everyday it sat up in its fairy tree waiting for people or creatures to come and and tell her their wishes. One day she was sitting, and got a little bored, so she got up and decided to go for a fly through the woods. She hadn't gone very far when she met an elk.

"Hello, elk!" she said.

"Oh well hello there Ms. Fairy! Fancy seeing you today. Ah, I had a wish."

"Oh? And what was that?"

"Ah, I wish that I could fly. I dunno. Maybe trade my antlers in for a pair of wings. Like yours, miss!"

"Well I sure could do that!" So the fairy worked her magic and the elk's antlers were changed into wings. "It'll take some getting used to," she said, "but I'm sure you can catch right on!"

The elk did, and from then on was seen flying through the woods by the wings on his head. Sure, it was a bit strange seeing his body hanging from his head, but he was comfortable and went on to live a successful elk life. He was also able to escape people who wanted the velvet off his antlers because instead of antlers he had wings. The end.

Nothing

I was going to post an imaginary conversation, thenI decided against it. I also could have written a princess story. But instead I'll write nothing.

Nothing nothing nothing.

I'm in a nothing kinda mood.

On My Stories

If you try to look for a point or a moral or a reason for my stories, chances are you won't find them. Why? Because there is no point or moral. Perhaps a reason is to just let words roll off my fingers. Like take for example my first story on here. My mind comes to a blank because there was really no point to that story.

Another thing is I like is making the creatures in my stories magical. I dunno. I like magical creatures that don't usually talk or move.

That's another thing. I like using things that don't talk and/or don't move. Especially toads and mushrooms. Those are my favorite for some reason.

I haven't written any princess stories yet, but sometimes those have points. Sometimes I translate what I'm feeling into a princess story, but most of the time I don't. Most of the time they have no point, like my other stories.

So this was to just help if you ever try to "dig deeper" into my stories. I guess they're more 2-dimensional than 3, if they are even more than 1. But I'm not quite sure how you would apply dimensions to stories? Ah! What if there are curled-up dimensions in my stories?! Hidden dimensions?? There aren't. They're just a line, or a square.

The end. I love to end my stories with "The end", and start them with "Once upon a time..."

That's all, I believe. G'night world!

Tomorrow I'm Coming Back?

Yes, it seems so. I have been out on a long trip, and tomorrow I'm going back. I do so like it here though, and here it would be easier to function a telescope without having to worry about trees obstructing your view...

But I am going home. Home home home. So all of you over there, watch out for me! I'm coming home! Did you miss me? I... was gone. I'll be back tomorrow. See ya then, I suppose.

It's nice being away. Away from your world that you are usually used to. It's fun being in new circumstances, and I'm going to miss that. But I suppose I've missed you at home, too.

I've noticed I never really stay in the same place for a long time. What, it's been 3 years at my current location? Longest was in St. George: almost 4 years.

But that relates to no point I suppose. See you all tomorrow! Well, actually no; I'll probably only see my family. Anyway, so long for now!

People of Utah, I shall return. :]

Children's Literature

On another subject, I just seem to love children's literature. Like A Wrinkle in Time or The Neverending Story or The Little Prince. Oftentimes I think it's better than adult's literature (much better than teenage literature - there is no comparison there). Though I do like Charles Dickens, and The Lord of the Rings (though many have read that in their childhood, which I think is exceptional), I still more like children's books.

A prevailing influence, I think, is the innocence of childhood. The way children look at the world, I think, is fantastic. (Though I do like to consider myself still a child.) The power of imagination is perhaps the best practical superpower.

Hm. Perhaps this post isn't about children's literature. Though I love it, perhaps what I want to focus on is imagination. Fantasy. There's a quote by probably my favorite public figure ever, Albert Einstein: "When I examined myself, and my methods of thought, I came to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge."

Now, I think Einstein is pretty cool. He turned the world's view of physics topsy-turvy. He was able to think up a whole brand new way of viewing the world. Sure he had to know facts and statistics and stuff like that, but he also had to imagine!

But that's getting off the point (what is the point? you ask? I'm not sure, but getting back to it...). On the subjects of books, my favorites always seem to be fantasy and science fiction. Why? Because they take lots of imagination to write and read. They engage your brain, with thoughts like "What if..?" or "What a strange thought..."

If you think about, imagination leads to progressive thinking. You have to imagine the possibilities ahead of you. Then also, is acting on what you imagine, but I'm not sure where I'm going with that...

Take Jules Verne, master of science fiction. He was a progressive thinker, with lots of imagination. You can see today lots of things that Verne predicted in his books.

I have this one radical dream. Now, this one probably won't ever become true, but I took it from my favorite books... I always imagine myself tessering (A Wrinkle in Time) to Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings). I dunno. Sounds kinda crazy. Probably not feasible. So my dream is to grow up to be a physicist (like my role model, Albert Einstein), discover a tesseract for real (I dunno. Maybe it's possible, what with hidden dimensions and everything) and somehow find Middle Earth in the middle of this great big universe. I would love to travel the forests there. The Entwood, Lothlorien, perhaps even Mirkwood, but I'm getting beside myself.

In truth, I also want to be a writer, somehow. Instead of using physics to explore literature, however, I might use literature to explore physics. Somehow it'll all work out. But probably, most of all, I'll end up being a mother, with my children to tell fantastic, unpublished stories to. That would be great as well, and their minds would be open to the worlds that imagination can create.

Sorry that was kind of long; I just sort of went off on a tangent (which I realized why that expression is used. A tangent line intersects a circle at only one point, and going off on a tangent could only relate to the topic on one point). Well, anyways, thanks for reading. catch you next time on... (drum roll...) the blog of Megan!!

Idea! i.e. Stories. Namely, the Magical Mushroom

I know what I can post. The random stories I think of sometimes. So today I will entertain you with a brilliant story of complications and plot twists. Or just a story about a magical mushroom. That sounds good.

Once upon a time (I always love to start stories with "Once upon a time") there lived a magical mushroom. It was as skilled in magic as a magical mushroom could be. It knew all the tricks, all the secret ways that are those of mushroom magic. One day it was hopping along (it was not rooted to the ground because of its magic) when it came across a toad. "Halloa, toad!" said the magical mushroom, as it saluted (magical mushrooms have arms, in case you didn't know). However, the toad was not magical and did not have the gift of speech. The magical mushroom, whose name happened to be Francis, decided to work some magic. Francis rubbed its hands together and uttered secret magical words, and put a spell on the frog so it could speak.

"Croak. Herm. Heh. Oh, my! Ribbit. Cough. What is this?" said the toad.

"I have performed magic upon you," responded Francis, "that you might speak!"

"Well a whole deal of good that has done! What have I to say? Other than I could really use some good flies right now?"

"I was hoping to have a conversation with you, my dear toad."

"Well deary me. Again, I have to ask, What have I to say?"

"Well, I don't suppose I know. Just thought there were many words bottled up inside of you that needed to be said."

"Nope. I'm fine. Good day, Mr. Francis the magical mushroom."

"But..."

"I said good day."

So Francis the magical mushroom hopped away, and the now speaking toad ate some flies and was happy. The end.

Welcome Back, Megan

It seems I have been gone quite a while... So I'm welcoming myself back :) So here I am. I suppose I should think of things to write about - things I care to inform the world of... But this post will just be my reintroduction. My friend had started back on blogging, and I thought, "Well golly gee! I used to blog, too!" So here I am.

To reintroduce myself, I'm Megan. I like to think that I know some things, however limited they may be. I enjoy trivia and books and knowledge.

That should suffice. I'll get back to you when I have something to say.
